This is great. Koontz describes “The Hotty Mystique” as the social demands on women to be as successful as they want to be – as long as they are sexually available and conform to high standards of erotic attraction. Be as successful as you like – but clothes must be tight and revealing.
Next, Koontz affirms that “hotness” is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to committed and enduring relationships. Instead attractiveness is directly correlated to, for men, getting little criticism and lots of sex – but for women, these two things, “amount of criticism and sexual attractedness” to her partner are precisely a function of how much housework she gets stuck doing.
