To your friends who insist that Israel’s blockade is for its “own defense”…

Ask them what the exclusion of candy, chips, and soda from Gaza has to do with Israel’s “defense.” On the other hand, if their objectives include making life miserable for defenseless Palestinians living in the ancient Palestinian homeland of Gaza, then the logic behind such a draconian measures makes perfect sense. No candy for children in Gaza, until Israel says so. Sounds more like a power trip than a defense tactic.

Israel to Allow Soda, Candy and Juice into Gaza

President Obama is meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House today. The leaders are expected to discuss Israel’s deadly attack on a Gaza-bound humanitarian aid boat and the plight of the people of Gaza. The meeting comes as Israel has announced it is slightly loosening its blockade on Gaza. For the first time in three years, Israel will allow soda, juice, jam, spices, shaving cream, potato chips, cookies and candy into Gaza.
